Alain Rocan

CPA, CIA, CISA, CISSP, CIPP/C

Alain leads the IT Audit, Risk and Advisory practice at Samson. He has over 25 years of audit, risk and control experience related to IM/IT, security, privacy, operations and governance. Alain has been the President of the ISACA Ottawa Chapter since 2014, and is a National Council member of the Canadian Cybersecurity Alliance. He was the first Chair of the Ottawa International Association of Privacy Professional (IAPP) KnowledgeNet.

As Partner, he led one of the Big Four’s cyber security services for Eastern Canada. He overses various cyber security related projects including Threat and Risk Assessments, Technical Vulnerability Assessments, and Cyber Governance reviews. In addition to his CISA, CISSP and CIPP/C certifications related to security and privacy, he has a SABSA Certified Security Architect Foundation Certificate and the CNE and MCSE technical certifications.

Alain has led well over one hundred internal audit projects related to IM/IT, projects / systems under development, management control frameworks, governance, and various operational areas. He has extensive experience in Enterprise Risk Management and has led numerous risk workshops. Alain was also involved in the development of the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Guidelines for the Treasury Board Secretariat, and has completed over 120 PIAs for public sector clients.

Alain’s combination of technical IM/IT, business and audit experience has allowed him to work with senior management and audit committees in a variety of perspectives. He is adept at bringing technical information to non-technical audiences.
